Detailed Description

The swirls in your paint didn't come from the road.

Look at your bonnet in direct sunlight. Those fine circular scratches — the ones you only see when the light hits right — came from cleaning it.

An old bath towel. A t-shirt. A cheap yellow cloth from the supermarket. Every one of them drags grit across the paint instead of lifting it away, and every wash leaves a few more marks that never come out.

You can spend a weekend correcting swirls. Or you can stop putting them there.

What 500gsm actually means

GSM is how much the fabric weighs per square metre — in plain terms, how thick and plush the cloth is.

A supermarket microfibre cloth is usually 200–300gsm. Thin, flat, and it pushes dirt around as much as it picks it up.

This is 500gsm. Deep pile, dense, and heavy in the hand. The fibres are long enough to trap grit inside the cloth rather than dragging it along the surface — which is the single thing that stops swirl marks happening.

It's the weight professional detailers use. It costs a bit more than a supermarket cloth. It's still less than a single machine polish.

The 80/20 blend, and why it matters

Cheap cloths are 100% polyester. Polyester scrubs but doesn't absorb well, and it can feel scratchy on paint.

This is 80% polyester, 20% polyamide — the standard detailers specify. The polyester does the cleaning, the polyamide does the absorbing. Together they hold several times their own weight in water, which is why one cloth can dry a panel instead of just smearing it.

Two sides, two jobs

  1. The plush side for paint, glass and anything delicate — waxing, buffing, final wipe-downs.
  2. The flatter side for the jobs that need a bit more bite — door shims, wheel faces, engine bays, interior plastics.

One cloth, both jobs, without swapping.

Where you'll use it

Bodywork and paint. Windows and mirrors, streak-free. Wheels and chrome. Dashboards, door cards and console plastics. Leather and vinyl seats. Boot and door shuts.

It's not just a car cloth either — it does bikes, windows, worktops and screens just as well. Most people buy one for the car and end up keeping another under the sink.

Look after it and it'll last for years

Wash it before first use. After that, machine wash warm with normal detergent.

No fabric softener — it coats the fibres and kills the absorbency permanently. No bleach. Don't tumble dry on high, and don't wash it with cotton towels, because it'll pick up their lint and stop working properly.

Do that and one cloth lasts hundreds of washes. Ignore it and you'll have ruined a good cloth in a fortnight.

Four colours — and use them as a system

Blue, green, yellow and purple. Not decoration: colour-code them by job.

One colour for paint only. One for glass. One for wheels. One for interiors. Wheel grit is the main cause of scratched paint, and it happens because someone used the wheel cloth on a bonnet without thinking. Different colours make that mistake impossible.

Buy one of each and the system sorts itself out.

Your car already says something. This is how you keep it saying it.

Backed by a 6-month CARVRE warranty.

In a nutshell

  • 500gsm, detailing grade — nearly twice the thickness of a supermarket cloth. Traps grit inside the pile instead of dragging it across your paint.
  • 80/20 polyester–polyamide blend — the ratio detailers specify. Holds several times its own weight in water.
  • Dual-sided — plush side for paint and glass, flatter side for wheels, shuts and interior plastics.
  • 30 × 40cm — big enough to dry a panel, small enough to control in one hand.
  • Four colours to code by job — paint, glass, wheels, interior. Stops wheel grit ending up on your bonnet.
  • Machine washable — hundreds of washes if you skip the fabric softener.
